Summary

Each organisation on Eventchain can send emails in its own brand fonts. Those fonts appear where the inbox supports them, and a standard font is used everywhere else. That's why the same email can look slightly different on an iPhone and in Gmail. The content, layout and links are identical either way.

  • Apple Mail (iPhone, iPad, Mac) shows your brand fonts.

  • Gmail, Outlook for Windows, Outlook.com and Yahoo show a standard font such as Arial or Georgia.

  • Every email template is designed to look right in both.

Your brand fonts

Most brands use two fonts: one for body text and one for headlines. Each font has a standard backup in the same style, used when the inbox can't show the brand font.

Font role

Typical use

Standard backup

Sans-serif brand font (no small strokes on the letters)

Body text, buttons, labels

Arial, Helvetica or Aptos

Serif brand font (small strokes on the letters)

Headlines, feature titles

Georgia or Times New Roman

Display or decorative brand font

Large headlines only

Arial or Georgia, whichever is closest; or use an image

To use your brand fonts in email, Eventchain needs the font files and a webfont licence that covers email. Your font supplier can confirm the licence.

This comes down to each email provider's own rules. Gmail and Outlook block custom fonts in email for every sender, not just Eventchain.

How the backup font works

Each email carries a short list of fonts in order of preference. The inbox works down the list and uses the first one it can display:

  1. Your brand font: shown in Apple Mail and other supporting inboxes.

  2. A close match already on the device: for example Helvetica on Apple, or Aptos for Microsoft 365 users.

  3. A web-safe font: Arial or Georgia, installed on almost every device. Gmail readers see these.

This means no reader ever sees a broken or unstyled email.

What this means for you

  • When you preview an email in Gmail or Outlook, a standard font is expected and correct.

  • Text, prices, dates and buttons are the same in every inbox.

  • Where a headline must look exactly on-brand everywhere, such as a hero banner, we can use an image with readable fallback text.
