The Assign To field controls who is responsible for a guest within a specific event. It behaves differently depending on how the guest was added and your app's preferences. In admin language it's called "Assigned to"; in board language it's called "Requested by".
Contact Owner (permanent): The permanently assigned owner of a contact across all events. Represents long-term relationship ownership and does not change per event.
Guest Owner / Assign To (event-specific): Ownership of a guest within a single event. Can differ from the Contact Owner and reflects operational responsibility for that event only.
1. Guest submitted via Board: Automatically assigned to the Requestor.
2. Guest keyed directly: Go to Preferences → VIP → Assign To. You can enable it and set a default: Event Creator/App Owner or Client Admin. If enabled, the default applies automatically when guests are keyed.
3. If "Do Not Use Assigned To" is selected: The default Assign To will be the user who keyed/added the guest.
Note: The Assign To field can always be manually updated within the event.
